How we verify

Official sources only

Every fact comes from an official government page: a ministry or agency, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, or a city or ward office. The site build fails if a source is not on an official government domain. We do not use blogs, forums or other benefit sites as sources.

A link and a date on every fact

Each fact links to the page it came from and shows the date we last checked it. Pages are labelled “Verified” with a date, or “Some details not yet confirmed”.

Regular re-checks

A weekly check re-reads every source and flags pages that have changed or moved.

When we are not sure

If something is not confirmed on the official page, we say so or leave it out. We do not guess. Found a problem? Report an error.
